HOUSEHEADS is a collaboration between photographers Timothy Shumaker and Olivier Desmet.

The project chronicles the DJs, producers, promoters, label bosses, and record shop folks who soundtracked the global house movement of the 1990s and 2000s. Some of those featured have since left the scene, while others remain active participants. All contributed their talent and passion to this vibrant community.

We began work on this undertaking in June 2026, aiming to photograph, using medium-format film cameras, as many house music friends and acquaintances as possible. We will continue to add images to this website as the project progresses over the next few years, with the eventual goal of a book release.
